Menemon Sanford Shipwreck

The Menemon Sanford was a 244-foot wooden paddlewheel steamship that ran aground on Carysfort Reef in 1856 while carrying troops. Today, the massive iron paddlewheel shaft and boiler remnants lie in just 10 to 15 feet of water on the reef. It is a highly scenic, shallow snorkel and dive site, with the heavy machinery providing a backdrop for reef fish and soft corals.
