The Eagle Shipwreck is a renowned dive site featuring a 300 ft freighter that was intentionally sunk in 1985 as part of an artificial reef program. The wreck, which was split in half by Hurricane George in 1998, lies on its side at a depth of 75-110 ft. Divers can explore numerous open penetrations, including a swim-through to the helm and chart plotting area, and view the massive propeller and anchor chain. The site is known for its easy access via a mooring line and the presence of large marine life such as Goliath groupers, eagle rays, and bull sharks.
